Gregorio Maria Paone
Gregorio Maria Paone (born 1994) is an Italian clarinetist, composer, musicologist and music theorist. He is currently a DMA candidate at James Madison University studying with Dr. Šarūnas Jankauskas.[1]
Biography[edit]
Paone received his bachelor's degree in Music Performance (clarinet) from the Umberto Giordano Conservatory in 2014. In 2015, he received his bachelor's degree in Cultural Heritage Studies from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.[2]
He holds master's degrees in Clarinet Performance, Musicology (Music Theory) and Composition & Conducting for Wind Orchestras from St. Cecilia Conservatory, the University of Rome Tor Vergata, and Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa Conservatory respectively. Paone was a Distinguished Graduate of St. Cecilia Conservatory in 2018,[3] as well as Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa Conservatory in 2020.[2]
He studied Music Theory with Giorgio Sanguinetti and Clarinet with Vincenzo Mariozzi.[4]
Paone is also a fellow of the Collegio Universitario dei Cavalieri del Lavoro "Lamaro Pozzani", with a fellowship granted by the Federazione Nazionale dei Cavalieri del Lavoro.[5]
Along with Professors Rosario De Luca (Lyceum of Music in Potenza) and Canio Fidanza (Lyceum of Music in Naples), Paone is one of the founders of Accademia Filarmonica Mediterranea (Mediterranean Philharmonic Academia), a non-profit organization dedicated to publishing diverse and inclusive musical academic works.[6]
Paone won many awards in competitions, both solo and in ensembles.[7]
Performances[edit]
Paone is intensely active as a solo player and in chamber and orchestral ensembles. He has appeared on the Italian National Radio with accordionist Mario Piluso on Radio 1 Music Club, hosted by John Vignola.[8] With Mario Piluso, he performed also at the prestigious Festival Pontino and, under the name of Duo Marsia, at PIF Calstelfidardo.[9][10][11]
In 2009, Paone participated in a live recording of Concerto della Speranza with the Rocco D’Ambrosio Wind Orchestra.[12]
