Musical career[edit]

Herrera studied music at Goldsmiths, University of London. At the beginning of her musical studies, Herrera obtained a permit to busk on the London Underground. During one of her busking sessions in early 2004 she was heard by BBC presenter Charlie Gillett, who invited her to perform live on his radio show, which is transmitted worldwide via the BBC World Service. During subsequent years, Herrera has performed at many venues including the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ronnie Scott's, the WOMAD festival, the Wexford Opera Festival, Cork Jazz Festival and many other places, venues and festivals in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, as well as mainland Europe.

Herrera's repertoire explores the convergence of the idiosyncratic rhythms of South America and the Caribbean with lyrics that examine human feelings and question the influence of modern society in our lives.
