Carry On Jatta (2012)[edit]
This part of the Indian Punjabi comedy film was directed by Smeep Kang and starring Gippy Grewal, and Mahie Gill. The film was released on 27 July 2012 and the film's central plot was loosely based on Chakkikotha Chankaran, a Malayalam film from 1989. This film was remade in the following languages: Odia (Pilata Bigidigala) in 2015; Telugu (Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam) in 2016; Bangladesh (Dhat Teri Ki) in 2017; and Bengali (India) in 2019 (Jamai Badal).[10]
At a friend's wedding, Mahie (Mahie Gill) and Jass (Gippy Grewal) fall in love, and Jass tells her friends that she is getting married to someone who is single like herself.[11] After getting married, Mahi does not want to deal with her in-laws' nagging and interference. Jass therefore pretends to be an orphan in order to win her over with the aid of his friend Honey (Gurpreet Ghuggi). She develops feelings for him, but when Taji (Karamjit Anmol), her brother, learns about it, he pressures them to get married soon away. As a result, Jass marries Mahie without telling his wife Diljit Dhillon, brother Goldy Dhillon, or father Advocate Dhillon (Jaswinder Bhalla). After they get married, Jass asks Mahie to find them a place to reside, and when she does, the comedy of errors starts when she finds a sublease room in Jass's own house. Jass devises a number of schemes with his best friend Honey (Gurpreet Ghuggi) to mislead Jass's family so that Jass can live with his wife Mahie in his own house without his family ever knowing. However, in the midst of everything, Honey secretly weds his girlfriend Preet (Khushboo Grewal) because his father Inspector Sikander Tiwana (B.N. Sharma) won't permit it. However, Honey deceives Preet's parents as well as Preet himself into thinking that he is the son of Advocate Dhillon. This results in a major disaster. In the end, everything works itself out, and Mahi accepts Jass for who he is.

Jass (Gippy Grewal) is a young orphan who rents space from Advocate Dhillon and his son Goldie. Jass's one and only goal in life is to move to Canada, but he is ineligible because of his academic failure. Therefore, the only method to get to Canada is to wed an NRI woman already there. In a marriage agency, by chance, his friend Honey serves as a mediator. Jass requests that he locate any NRI woman for him. Jass and Honey attend an NRI wedding where the guests are also NRIs. Jass meets Meet, an NRI girl, at the marriage, and he falls in love with her. He follows Meet and finds out that she is also an orphan and has lived alone her entire life, which is why she wants to marry a man who has a big family. Jass therefore concocts a scheme with Honey to dupe Meet into thinking that he is deeply in love with her and has a large family. Jass is soon asked by Meet to take her to meet his family so she can meet her uncle. Jass, however, declines because he has no family.[14]
On the other side, Meet's uncle begins looking for potential husbands for Meet. Her uncle and Honey had previously interacted, so they requested that he find her a spouse, and Honey requests that Meet marry Jass. Jass comes up with a new scheme to prove to Advocate Dhillon that he is his father and that Meet is Goldie's wife, but this leads to a lot of misunderstanding and issues. Jass began pleading with her to move to Canada after she wed Meet, but she has refused since she feels that leaving Meet's family would be cruel. Jass therefore comes up with a new scheme to make Meet despise his family and convince them to send him to Canada.[15] Although it took a lot of time, the plan was successful, and Jass fled with Meet. However, Goldie's uncle Tony saw them and alerted Advocate Dhillon, who believed Jass was fleeing with his daughter-in-law (Goldie's wife). As a result, he began to pursue them with his house servant, who met them along the way. Then Tony sees them fleeing and believes Advocate is in love with her. In the drama that Honey is portraying, the uncertainty is finally clarified.
