Carson "Eddy" Edwards is an American businessman and politician serving as Vice Mayor of Miramar, Florida and a member of the Miramar City Commission, representing Seat 4. He was elected to the Commission in March 2025 and was selected by his fellow commissioners to serve as Vice Mayor beginning April 1, 2026.
Early life
Edwards was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. He has lived and worked in Miramar for more than three decades as a businessman and community organizer.
Business career
Edwards has worked in media, marketing, and hospitality for more than 30 years. He is the managing partner of Stingez Night Club and the founder of Riddims Marketing, Inc. He also serves as CEO of the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival, an annual cultural and culinary event held at Miramar Regional Park. Through radio programming and community partnerships, he has been active in Miramar's Caribbean-American community.
Political career
2025 Commission election
Edwards ran for Miramar Commission Seat 4 in the March 2025 municipal election, a seat vacated by Commissioner Alexandra Davis after her election to the Broward County Commission in November 2024. His campaign, themed "Stronger Together," emphasized affordable housing, support for local businesses, community engagement, and sustainable development. He won the seat and was sworn in as commissioner in 2025.
Vice Mayor
On April 1, 2026, the City Commission voted to select Edwards as Vice Mayor for a one-year term, succeeding Commissioner Yvette Colbourne, who had held the position since April 2025. Edwards was nominated by Colbourne and received the support of Mayor Wayne Messam and Commissioners Avril Cherasard and Maxwell B. Chambers. As Vice Mayor, Edwards presides over Commission meetings in the Mayor's absence and represents the city at official and community events. Under city code, the Commission votes annually on the position, with the next selection scheduled for April 2027.
