Cenoa is a financial technology company headquartered in Singapore that provides USD-denominated digital accounts to users in emerging markets.[1] The company was founded in 2022 and raised $7 million in seed funding in February 2023.[1]
History
Cenoa was founded in 2022 by Emre Ertan, Seçkin Çağlın, Sırrı Perek, and Buğra Çakmak.[1] Ertan previously worked at Getir, a rapid delivery company that reached a valuation of nearly $12 billion in 2022,[2] as chief product and technology officer.[1] Çağlın previously worked at McKinsey & Company and Garanti BBVA.[1] Perek previously worked at Facebook and Çakmak at Google.[1] The co-CEOs developed the company concept while at Stanford Graduate School of Business.[3]
In February 2023, the company raised $7 million in seed funding. The round was led by Quiet Capital, an early investor in Robinhood, and Underscore VC, with participation from Human Capital, Ulu Ventures, Acrew Capital, and Collective Spark.[1]
In September 2023, Cenoa launched services in Nigeria.[4] The company reported attracting over 50,000 sign-ups within the first month of operations in that market.[4]
In September 2023, Cenoa was selected for the Mastercard Start Path Blockchain and Digital Assets program.[5] The program supports startups working on blockchain technology and digital assets.[5]
In October 2024, Cenoa announced a partnership with Ruul.io, a platform for freelancers, to provide payment services to independent workers in emerging markets.[6]
Services
Cenoa provides a mobile application that allows users to hold USD-denominated accounts using blockchain technology.[1] The service uses USDC stablecoin infrastructure provided by Circle.[4]
