Chaayos is an Indian tea café chain founded in 2012 by Nitin Saluja and Raghav Verma.[1] It is operated by Sunshine Teahouse Pvt. Ltd. and is headquartered in New Delhi[2]. The chain offers customizable tea with various add-on options. Since opening its first café in Gurgaon in 2012, Chaayos has expanded to over 200 outlets as of 2025 .[3][4]
History and founding
Chaayos was founded in November 2012 by Nitin Saluja and Raghav Verma.[1] The first Chaayos outlet opened in DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon in late 2012.[5] By mid-2015, Chaayos had around a dozen outlets in NCR. The company also started building its delivery service and retailing packaged teas that year.[1] Chaayos continued to expand steadily through the late 2010s. In 2016 it entered Mumbai, and by 2018 the chain was operating over 50 cafés across six cities: Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida (the core NCR region), Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru.[6]
Expansion and formats
By early 2020, the chain operated roughly 80 outlets.[7] Pandemic-related restrictions in 2020 led to temporary closures of in-café operations, during this period the company shifted its focus to online delivery.[8] Physical expansion resumed after 2020. By late 2022, Chaayos reported operating around 200 stores [3] In 2023, the chain also entered selected smaller markets, such as Karnal.[8] In 2024, Chaayos introduced a new format called “Chaayos Experience” cafés as part of a broader redesign of its outlets.[9] The first Experience café opened in late 2024 at Skymark One in Noida, followed by another in Gurugram.[10]
