History
Purplle is an Indian e-commerce company that was founded in 2012 by Manish Taneja and Rahul Dash. Taneja and Dash, both graduates of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai, recognized a gap in the Indian beauty market for an affordable and convenient online platform that offered a wide selection of cosmetics and personal care products.
The company started out as a price comparison website for beauty products, but quickly pivoted to become a full-fledged e-commerce platform due to the overwhelming demand from consumers. Purplle's online store and mobile app allowed customers to browse and purchase products from a wide range of Indian and international beauty brands, with a focus on affordability and accessibility.
In 2019, Purplle launched its own private label brand, Good Vibes, which offers a range of affordable and high-quality skincare products.[1] The brand has since expanded to include makeup and personal care items as well.
On June 9, 2021, Purplle became a Unicorn company after raising $33 million in a Series E funding round led by Paramak Ventures and existing investors Premji Invest, Blue Ventures, and Kedaara.[2]
