Charles Anthony Bahr (/bɑːhr/; bar; born 26 February 2002) is a German businessman, strategy consultant, public speaker and former executive. He is primarily known for being one of the earliest Generation Z specific consultants in the advertising and marketing industry. He was the founder of tubeconnect UG and Project Z – two independent consulting firms. As of 2023, he is a general partner and CEO of Z Consulting Group (ZCG), his third venture in the field, together with his business partner Talita Faust.[1] He previously served as a strategic partner of TikTok Germany from 2020 to 2021.[2][3][4]
Early life and education[edit]
Bahr was born on 26 February 2002 in Hamburg, Germany. He was raised by his single mother in Hamburg-Eppendorf and has one sister.[5] He attended Gymnasium Eppendorf but didn't graduate.[6][7]
Career[edit]
In 2013, aged 11, Bahr became active on YouTube. He launched his own channel CharlesWelt (CharlesWorld) two years later.[8] Aged 15, he launched his first strategy consulting firm, tubeconnect media UG, which was primarily known as the only to consult with companies on how to advertise for Generation Z.[9][10] The online magazine Online Marketing Rockstars described Bahr as 'youngest agency boss' in 2017. By the end of 2017 the company received an investment of the Hamburg-based investor Michael Schierholdt.[11] Clients of the agency included Levi's and Allianz.[12]
In 2020, Bahr launched Project Z, as successor to his previous company.[13][14] According to own statements, clients include Thomas Sattelberger, McDonald's and Deutsche Bahn.[15][16] Behind Project Z is the business incubator MNTCI GmbH.[17] In July 2020, Bahr left the agency, which ultimately was taken-over by Urs Meier. He was engaged as Brand Partnership Manager by TikTok. By the end of 2021 he was accused of fraud in accordance to travel expenses and disclosure of content to third parties and ultimately fired. Bahr sued his employer and they reached a common verdict.[18]
