Charlestown Rowing Club is a Cornish Pilot gig club in the town of Charlestown in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom.

  • Defender - Launched April 20, 2009.[1] Built by Maurice Hunkin of Fowey. Named after a former four oared gig that used to operate from the harbour. The 'Defender' is the top race boat for the club.
  • Keynvor - Launched in 2004. A training gig of fibreglass construction built by T Deakin and donated to Charlestown Rowing Club by Ocean Housing as part of a joint social welfare / community cooperation between Ocean Housing, J&R Regan and Charlestown Rowing Club. The name "Keynvor" is Cornish for Ocean. The gig is painted blue, the corporate colours of Ocean Housing.
  • Rashleigh - Launched in 2009. A training gig of fibreglass construction built by T Deakin and named after Charles Rashleigh, one of the largest former land owners in the area and the reason for the naming of Charlestown, which he owned.
  • The Skiff - Launched in 2005. A 4m training Skiff.

Former Vessels[edit]

  • Mystery - Launched in 1991. Built by Peter Foard of Mevagissey. Named after a former four oared coastguard gig. Sold in June 2010 to Bideford Gig Club
  • Tormentor - Launched in 1995. Built by Dave Currah of Looe. Sold to Padstow Gig Club in 2007 who renamed her 'Vixen'
  • Waterwitch - Launched in 2003. Built by John & Dave Currah of Looe. Named after a ship of the same name. Famous for being the last UK registered cargo carrying Square rigged sailing ship. Due to connections with one of the families involved with the original Waterwitch it was possible for a piece of wood from the original boat to be incorporated into the new pilot gig. Waterwitch is the second race boat for Charlestown Rowing Club. Waterwitch was sold to Langstone Cutter Gig Club with the funds going towards the new gig Grace in 2015. she was rename Spirit of Langstine.

Livery[edit]

The livery of boats owned by Charlestown Rowing Club is a white bottom with grey topsides and a red gunwale. These colours were adopted from those of Charlestown Primary School.
