Chintia Kirana is an artist, cinema art director, and promoter of art communities whose themes focus on time and isolation. She is presently the only practicing professional artist in the United States of Chinese-Indonesian descent. She graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Her professors includes Najjar Abdul- Musawwir, Xuhong Shang, Erin Palmer.

Kirana is a renowned multidisciplinary artist hailing from Jakarta, Indonesia, whose work and passion extend beyond traditional artistic boundaries.

She served as the art director for the Indonesian movie The Architecture of Love (2024).

Chintia Kirana's artistic journey was significantly shaped during her time spent in Montgomery, Alabama. It was here that she found profound inspiration in the rich history and unwavering resilience of the local community. This experience served as a catalyst for her artistry, expanding her practice to encompass socially engaged and community-based projects. Chintia Kirana is the founder of "Expose Art," an art magazine, and "ArtHouse," an artist-run arts residency. These initiatives have provided a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work and engage in creative discourse. Additionally, she co-founded "Montgomery Arts Projects (MAP)," an organization that fosters artistic exchange by bringing artists from the United States and abroad to Montgomery. Through MAP, Kirana has been the driving force for numerous community art projects. One of those was the Inside Out Project, which plastered portraits of thousands of Montgomerians on the One Dexter Plaza building in the heart of downtown.[1]

Chintia Kirana's artistic endeavors span multiple cities, as she splits her time between Montgomery, Atlanta, and New York City. Her studios in Montgomery, Alabama, and Brooklyn, New York, serve as hubs for her creative exploration.

Chintia Kirana's work has received critical acclaim and has been featured in numerous solo, group, and juried exhibitions in the United States and internationally. Her artwork has graced prestigious institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, Dhaka National Museum of Art, Wiregrass Museum of Art, Zhou B Art Center, and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. Her artistic contributions have been recognized and celebrated through the inclusion of her works in private collections both in the United States and abroad.[7] Chintia Kirana's commitment to art, education, and community engagement is evident in her diverse and impactful body of work.
