Coho Data is an enterprise data storage company based in Palo Alto, California. Coho Data's product, the DataStream storage array, utilizes commodity hardware and flash architecture to provide web-scale storage to enterprises with virtualized environments.[1]

History[edit]

Coho Data was founded in 2011 by Ramana Jonnala, Andrew Warfield, and Keir Fraser who were involved in the creation of XenSource,[2] a virtual infrastructure solution acquired by Citrix Systems in August 2007.[3] Coho Data's research and development headquarters are located in Vancouver, British Columbia where the technology was developed in stealth mode until October 2013 when the Datastream 1000 product was revealed.[4]

The company received $10 million in its Series A venture funding from Andreessen Horowitz in August,[5] 2012 and in November of 2013 it raised an additional $25 million in Series B funding which was led by Ignition Partners and included support from Andreessen Horowitz.[6] March Capital Partners, Intel Partners, and HP contributed to Coho Data's $30 million Series C funding round in May, 2015 [7]

In March 2015 Coho Data was announced as the first storage company to be part of Intel’s Network Builders program.[8] The same month, the company was added to the Ubuntu Cloud OpenStack Interoperability Lab (OIL) program as a Canonical Partner.[9][10][11] In August, 2015 Coho Data announced the integration of Docker containers and microservice orchestration support.[12]

As of 2015, the company has offices in Palo Alto, California; Vancouver, British Columbia; Cambridge, UK; and Bangalore, India.
