Collins Mugume[1] is a Ugandan Digital Marketer, and tech entrepreneur who servers as the chief executive office of Pay24, a fin-tech startup in Uganda that provides financial services to the unbanked across Africa[2]. Mugume is a Director in Mauve Digital, a digital marketing agency based in Kampala and MoneyPlans.co, a platform that offer business plans and business consultancy to entrepreneurs in Uganda. Mugume is based in Kampala, Uganda

Background and education[edit]

Mugume is Ugandan born and educated. He attended Kitabi Seminary for O'level and Ntare School for A'level. He graduated from Uganda Christian University, one of the top Universities in Uganda[3], with a Bachelors of Information Technology. He is currently carrying out research for his Master of Business Administration, from Uganda Martyrs University, in Uganda.

Career[edit]

Mugume is an ardent digital marketer with broad marketing experience, encompassing strategic planning, digital marketing, creative development, media buying and public relations. Collins has worked with some of the top media companies in the region, as Head of Marketing and Digital at Africa Broadcasting Uganda Limited for brands NTV Uganda, Spark TV and VIDTV, as well as Marketing and PR Manager for Econet Media (Uganda) for brands; Kwese TV, Kwese Free Sports, Kwese Play and Kwese iflix. In his entrepreneurial journey, Mugume together with Madra David founded Meka[4][5], an e-commerce platform that was launched at the first DEMO Africa in 2012 after coming among the Top 40 Ventures in Africa[6]. In 2013, he co-founded Remit which was the first Credit Card/Debit Card to Mobile Wallet remittance platform in Uganda. In 2014 and 2015, he organised the first Social Media Summit in Uganda[7] which attracted international speakers like Prof. David Girling, Philip Ogola and Mark Kaigwa among others.

Mugume is a member of Rotary International with the Rotary Club of Kiwatule, where he has served on the Public Relations Committee (2019-2020), Membership Committee (2019-2020), Youth Services Committee (2020-2021) and the PR Committee (2019-2021)
