History[edit]
The Companions and Pets Party, which was founded to contest the 2022 Victorian state election, was established by a multitude of greyhound and horse racing and breeding associations in response to the rise of animal liberationism.[1]
The party was founded by racing person John Hutchison, who is also an experienced dog breeder and an author of two books about the bichon frise breed.[6]
The party has been critical of the Animal Justice Party, having aired negative radio ads against them in NSW.[7]
The party secured 0.01% percent of the vote in the state election.[8]
