History[edit]
Prior to Congress Rental Australia being founded, it was a division of Philips Australia known as Interpretation Rental. Neville Barbey managed this business at Philips from 1975 and remained with the business until his retirement in 2017. During this time, Philips was the dominant player in the Australian market undertaking most association language interpretation assignments in Australia along with high-profile events including Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGM) and the Sydney 2000 Olympics. In 2000 the business was sold to Jeremy Ducklin and Congress Rental Australia was formed. Congress Rental Australia has also been part of the Congress Rental Network, since 1994.
In 2006, Congress Rental Singapore was established, offering the same range of products and services as Congress Rental Australia. In 2017, Congress Rental Indonesia was established in Bali, undertaking the same range of products and services as Congress Rental Australia. In 2019, Congress Rental New Zealand]was established in Wellington, undertaking the same range of products and services as Congress Rental Australia.
