Brenton J. Mosley (born 1995), known professionally as Conscious, is an American rapper, producer (under the name MC Cons), poet, filmmaker, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of McNeill Ent, LLC®, an independent entertainment and media company based in North Carolina.[1]

Early life and education

Mosley was born in Dunn, North Carolina (Harnett County) to Kim Campbell. At the age of five, he entered foster care and was adopted in 2005 by April and Rodney Mosley.[2] Through these formative experiences, he developed a strong passion for poetry, education, and performance.

In 2006, Mosley attended John Casablancas Modeling & Talent School, leading to a modeling and acting career with MTM Agency. He received three Mike Beaty Awards and was featured in the Model & Talent Expo Fall 2009 Collector’s Edition magazine.[3]

Mosley participated in the Duke TIP program in 2007 and received presidential recognition, including a formal letter of honor bearing the American Seal. He excelled academically, graduating with a 4.1 GPA (3.875 unweighted) and was a 12-year member of the National Technical Honor Society.[4]

In addition to academics, Mosley earned multiple track and field awards, including 2× 1A-2A Track & Field MVP, 4× County Medalist, 2× Regional Medalist, and 2× State Qualifier. He also received football honors as a 2× 1A All-Conference player.[2]

Music

Mosley returned to music in 2017 under the stage name Conscious. In 2019, he founded McNeill Ent, LLC®, aiming to create a self-sustained platform for independent artistry.[1] His discography includes multiple independent mixtapes and albums, blending poetic delivery with socially aware themes.

Mosley expanded his career into filmmaking as a director, writer, and producer. His short film Spin Da Block (2020) was an official selection at the Lift-Off Global Network Film Festival and received three independent award nominations.[5] He was also featured as a poet in the recorded comedy special Concert Night w/ Big Daddy Laugh-A-Lot.[2]

Activism

Beyond music, Mosley is involved in social justice movements, advocating for community empowerment and self-sustained artistry. His work reflects themes of resilience, identity, and systemic challenges.[2]
