Joshua Ovalle (/ˈvj/; born August 21, 1998), formerly known as Josh Kennedy, is an American filmmaker, comedian, and social media personality. Ovalle first gained public attention via his award-winning short films and comedy skits on Vine.

Career

At age 15, Ovalle received acclaim for his short film Minimum Max which covered his struggle with managing medication and school as someone with ADHD.[2][3] It won several awards and was screened at over 50 film festivals, including Nashville Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, and Toronto International Film Festival.[4][5][6]

In 2014, Ovalle began to post on the online platform Vine under the name Josh Kennedy.[7] He quickly gained a large following[8] after fellow online comedian Cody Ko praised one of his Vines.[1][9] After the dissolution of Vine, he moved to YouTube and later TikTok.[10]

In 2019, Ovalle was signed as a client by the management company Fullscreen.[11][12]

He played "Bobby BaseCamp" in the 2020 horror film Spree.[13]

Personal life

Ovalle was born in Seattle, Washington, and later relocated, with his family, to the Huntington Beach/Costa Mesa area of California when he was young.[14][15] He attended Mater Dei School until he was expelled midway through high school, and began attending Halstrom Academy.[16][15] He currently lives in Los Angeles.
