Convergence is a sustainable living festival held in Ireland

Convergence Festival is an annual sustainable living festival held in Ireland. Running since 2000, and organised by the Sustainable Ireland Cooperative Society, the Convergence Festival features a combination of events relating to the achievement of sustainable development goals.[1]

History[edit]

The first Convergence Festival took place in Dublin's Temple Bar in the year 2000. Held every year since (twice in some years) Convergence has featured conferences, forums and debates on green building, sustainable economies and resilient communities. The schedule has also included films, concerts, fashion shows and exhibitions, as well as food and craft fairs.[2][not in citation given]

According to the organizers: "for more than a decade this unique programme of events has celebrated community resilience and social inclusion whilst championing the changes needed to create a sustainable economy, society and built environment".[3]

Events[edit]

The 16th running of the festival, Convergence 16, took place from 16 June to 26 June 2011.[citation needed] In that year, the festival grew to become a nationwide programme, with events and activities taking place in Dublin, Cork, Sligo, County Tipperary and Kilkenny.[citation needed]

In 2015 and 2017, Convergence Festival events took place in Galway.[4][5]
