Copper Chimney is a chain of contemporary Indian food restaurants. It is backed by K hospitality under its subsidiary Charcol Concept, which also runs restaurants and pubs, including The Irish House and Bombay Brasserie, and its airport fast-food chain under the Travel Food Services brand.[1] At present, it has 22 outlets across Mumbai, Chennai, Karnataka, and the National Capital regions. The chain has opened its latest outlet in Gurgaon.[2]
Copper Chimney was founded by J.K. Kapur, an Indian filmmaker, in Bombay (presently Mumbai) in 1972 after he migrated there post the partition of India.[3][4] The first restaurant was inaugurated by actor Dilip Kumar.[2] The restaurant served up dishes from the North-West Frontier Province, from Peshawar to Delhi at that time.[3] The restaurant also had a first lady master chef Tari when women were rarely part of this field. The restaurant also hosted India’s first open show kitchen, helmed by chef Tari, the first female ustad.[5][6][2]
The company earns 30% of its revenues from home delivery and the rest from dine-in services.[6] K Hospitality announced 50 new outlets of Copper Chimeny in India, the Middle East, and the UK by 2027.[1] The company opened an outlet in Westfield London and Woodland Hills in 2022.[7][8]
