Cushy Access
Cushy Access is a relatively new Nigerian e-Commerce and Logistics startup, operating currently in the northern state of Nigeria - Niger. Cushy Access is divided into three divisions: Cushy Access Food, Cushy Access Meal, and its logistics arm - Cushy Access Logistics.
History
In mid-2021, Divine-Favour Egeh and Victor Ogbe founded Cushy Access as a subsidiary of their existing company, now called Ornagle Inc.
Cushy Access was launched in the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna); the founders' alma mater. It was first known as Eazy Access.[1], and the website was www.eazyaccess.com.ng; the domain was registered on the 23rd of July, 2021.
The company was formed to tackle some of the existing challenges and inconveniences students of FUTMinna faced. Their debut service was Eazy Access Water, a website that enabled students living off campus to order water from local water vendors to their lodges, due to the difficulty and unavailability of getting water for daily use.
Seeing the little success achieved by their first endeavour, they added a new service named Eazy Access Food. This new service made food purchases convenient for students, as students both living on campus hostels and residing off-campus could browse through a variety of raw foodstuffs, make payments in the app/website, and get their orders delivered to their doorstep.
Due to the inadequacy of the school to provide a reliable transport service to convey students from their then two campuses - Bosso and Gidan Kwano[2], Eazy Access created another division, Eazy Access Transport. Students could now book bus seats online, make payments and submit their tickets the next day to Eazy Access drivers packed somewhere in the school. This was done to eliminate the stress of queuing up too early and wasting hours waiting on the school buses.
In October of the same year the company started, Eazy Access Housing was created to enable students find houses to rent via the platform.
Eazy Access launched yet another service, Eazy Access Roomie, a platform to help students searching for roommates connect and rent houses using Eazy Access Housing. This was later shut down due to low demand for the service.
On the 14th of February 2022, Eazy Access launched Eazy Access Meal, an e-commerce platform where students could order from various restaurants and eateries - prepared meals, snacks and drinks as opposed to Eazy Access Food which was for raw foodstuff solely.
In February 2022, seven months after the launch of Eazy Access, the founders wanted to register their new business formally under the laws of CAC. It was then they discovered the name was unavailable, and so renamed the company to its current name. The domain cushyaccess.com was registered the next month.[3] While the business, "Cushy Access" was officially registered July of the same year.[4]
All their numerous services co-existed separately until the company's name was changed. It then became a unified platform creating an ecosystem that made it possible for customers to utilize just one account to access all its services[5]
Cushy Access was initially founded to focus on students and student life solely, but expanded to the general market in late 2022. Their Logistics arm, Cushy Access Logistics played a key role in this new development and expansion.
In 2022, there was a decline in patronage due to the 2022 ASUU strike that spanned a period of eight months. Students had to return home, and seeing students was Cushy Access's target market, they were forced to make their services no more limited to students. They did that by launching Cushy Access Logistics in September 2022.
By February 2023, it was announced that Cushy Access Housing and Cushy Access Transport would be shut down. This was to enable the company to focus on its core services: e-commerce and logistics.[6] Currently, Cushy Access operates 3 divisions known as Cushy Access FML; CA Food, CA Meal, and CA Logistics.

Partnerships
In March 2023, Cushy Access introduced Cushy Access Prime. A subscription-based delivery model where business customers of CA Logistics could pay a monthly fixed fee upfront to ship all their products to their respective customers.
Cushy Access also had other private partnerships with the likes of big transportation agencies and bigger logistics company, among others.
Payment
Currently, Cushy Access does not operate its independent payment infrastructure, as they rely on Flutterwave[7]. They also developed their digital currency called Cushcoin[8]. The digital wallet operation is similar to basic PayPal service - where users can send funds to other users registered on the platform, using just their emails. CA Food and Meal users can top-up their wallets (with the help of Flutterwave), they can also withdraw funds directly to their local banks. And more importantly, they can use their Cushcoin funds to purchase items on the platform.

Investors
In 2021, Eazy Access was launched via bootstrapping. It wasn't until late 2021 that investors came on board. As at their one-year anniversary, Eazy Access, thereafter renamed Cushy Access procured a total investment of ₦550,000[10]
As of 2023, the largest shareholder is Ornagle Inc., Cushy Access' parent company.
Awards and recognition
Seeing that Cushy Access originated from a university, and hasn't garnered widespread visibility yet, their awards are currently limited in the school they started.
