Dillon James Witt (born October 24, 1995), known professionally as D-Witt, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, businessman and investor from Rockford, Illinois.[1]
D-Witt is better known for his song “Enemy” and his unique musical style, songwriting, collaboration and is a former YouTube personality known as Dillon Witt. D-Witt began his career in the music scene at an early age.
Early life[edit]
D-Witt was born in Rockford, Illinois, and was raised in Rock City, Illinois. As a child, Witt was influenced by his musician parents’ musical preferences. His father, Doug Witt, is a recognized guitarist, guitar manager and a musician, while his mother is a prominent lawyer who serves on the Board of Directors for a local Arts Center and sings in choir. Witts' maternal grandfather was a remarkable agricultural president. Following his parents divorce in 2005, he moved from Rock City to Rockford with his mother and two sisters, Madeleine and Fran, at only nine years old. At this age and at eleven years old, D-Witt began playing drums, guitar and piano. Dillon’s interest and love for music exploded when moving to Rockford, Illinois. As a teenager, Dillon would shop at thrift stores which influences his fashion and musical style.[2][3]
Musical career[edit]
Witt has born into music birthed by two musicians. As his father is a popular local guitarist, D-Witt quickly caught on and learned rhythm. Witt begun rapping in middle school and uploaded his first YouTube rap video. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Rockford, Illinois. After that, he claimed he used to hop on Xbox and freestyle for people. With four of his high school friends, he formed a rap group in 2012. Also that year, Witt started his Twitter account started gaining fans called “Witties” and eventually Witt became an internet personality. As more and more fans grew, Witt was encouraged and influenced by his fans to change paths and step into the music industry. In 2015, D-Witt dropped his hit song “Enemy”[4] on SoundCloud which now has over one million plays. In 2016, “Escaping Me"[4] aired on the station "All Unsigned FM Radio” numerous times over the internet. Since then, his music has been played on different radio stations..[5]
Personal life[edit]
After graduating high school in late 2014, D-Witt joined a music group but later left to progress forward independently. He attended SXSW in 2016 where his love for music grew even further. D-Witt has worked with Chicago famous Hip Hop artist, Supa Bwe.
