John Tyreek Andrews Ogbonna (born June 23, 2010), known popularly as DAYKEY, is an American singer, songwriter, and social media personality. He performs with the New Breed Brass Band. He is also signed to the record label Crux Global.[1]
Early life
Ogbonna was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He attended Lake Taylor Middle School. Later,[2] he moved to Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk. He is a member of the Andrews family, which is a well-known family of jazz and brass musicians from New Orleans.[3]
Career
Music
Ogbonna performed with the New Breed Brass Band. The band is famous for mixing traditional New Orleans music with modern styles like hip hop, funk, and rock.[4]
In 2023, the band released their first studio album, Made in New Orleans. This album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Regional Roots Music Album. In 2024, their album Live at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival was also nominated for a Grammy Award.
He is currently an artist with Crux Global, a music company that helps artists share their music around the world.[5]
Social media
Using his stage name DAYKEY, he has become popular on the social media app Cheelee. He shares short videos with his fans. By early 2026, his page reached over 190,000 followers and more than 1 million "likes."[6]
