DEM4[1] is a virtual laboratory that conducts scientific research and creates products in the fields of health, wellbeing and anti-aging.[2] Its resident scientists include specialists in various fields, and it works in partnership with a number of research institutions including the University of Copenhagen and the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.
History and concept[edit]
DEM4 was founded in 2009 by Dmitry Buriak, head of Vision International People Group. DEM4 was established as a virtual laboratory in order to reduce its environmental impact, and to enable it to contract out experts from international research institutions.[3] It oversees the testing, certification and manufacturing of all of its products. DEM4 Laboratory follows a Total Quality Management model which includes applying the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point HACCP and ISO 22000 systems. It also adheres to ISO 9001 standard.
Resident Scientists[edit]
Anthony Atala M.D. is Director of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Chair of the Department of Urology at Wake Forest University. Elmantas Pocevicius heads DEM4’s Research and Development Department. He is responsible for the development of new products and oversees the quality verification process.[4] Michael Tvede is Head of the Department of Clinical Microbiology at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen,[5] and the author of more than 85 research articles. Martin Middeke is Professor of Internal Medicine at the Medical Department of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and Editor-in-Chief of several German medical journals. Jesper Neergaard Gantzel and Søren Baungaard Thomsen are founders and partners of Biocare Copenhagen,[6] a Danish biotech company that specializes in food supplements containing microbial compounds.
Products[edit]
DEM4 Laboratory’s main focus lies in the provision of biologically active food supplements,[7] functional food and herbal teas. DEM4 Laboratory’s latest product is Bio-In,[8] a 120-day program of probiotics focused on anti-aging.
