Danny Crespo, (born October 8, 1988), better known by his stage name DJ Crespo, is an American DJ and music producer. He first began DJing professionally in 2007 at the age of 17. Since then, he has toured internationally, most notably as touring DJ for Will Smith's son Jaden Smith.[1]
In 2018, Crespo co-founded the Wired Sound Academy, an educational facility for music production, recording and DJing. The school was co-founded with DJ Landis.
DJ Crespo is also an advocate for “dancing without drugs.”[2]
Biography[edit]
Crespo was born on October 8, 1988, in Chicago, Illinois, but moved to Miami at age 6. His musical influences include Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Flume, OutKast, Jay Z, Nero and DJ AM.[3]
While studying nursing at Florida State University, DJ Crespo bought his first set of turntables and began crashing house parties in hopes of DJing.[3][4]
Career[edit]
In 2007, DJ Crespo played as direct support for Avicii, Skrillex, Tiesto and Steve Aoki while in college at Florida State University. Since then, he has played some of the world's biggest festivals including EDC Las Vegas, Rolling Loud and Tomorrowland and holds residencies at DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs LIV, E11even, Tao Nightclub at The Venetian Las Vegas and The Grand Boston.[1] He has opened for Benny Benassi, Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean, and toured with Fall Out Boy.
As a part of Will Smith's Westbrook Entertainment management, Crespo was one of only three pure music acts represented on the roster and toured with Jaden Smith as Smith's DJ. He also remixed Smith's most popular track, "Icon."[5] Crespo remained associated with Westbrook Entertainment until it was acquired by Calvin Harris' Three Six Zero management company.
In 2013, DJ Crespo's first original single "MOJO" charted Top 25 on Beatport's Progressive Chart. The song was co-produced with DJ Landis and released on Cr2 Records.[6]
In 2015, Crespo released the original track "Lose Yourself" with Grammy Award winner Fatman Scoop and DJ Landis, which reached the Top 25 on Beatport's Electro House Chart.
In 2018 Crespo released an official remix to Chantel Jefferies' “Wait” ft. Offset and Vory on Universal Music.
