DJ Kitsune
DJ Kitsune (born July 31, 1979, civil name Philipp Senkpiel), is a German DJ, music producer, founder and CEO of an independent music label and music publisher. He is known for his radio shows, mixtapes, DJ gigs and as tour DJ for German rap artists like Azad, Curse, Jonesmann or Pal One. In 2006, DJ Kitsune won the “Best National DJ“ Award, awarded by the German hip hop website “hiphop.de”. The same year, he got nominated as “Best International Mixtape DJ“ at the “Justo’s Mixtape Awards” in New York.
Today, DJ Kitsune is one of the leading hip hop DJs in Germany and an experienced manager of musicians and producers. The online magazine “jetzt.de” of the largest German daily newspaper "Süddeutsche Zeitung“ called DJ Kitsune one of the candidates for the title of “The Hardest Working Man in German Hip Hop Business“.[1][2]

Biography
DJ Kitsune was born in Ilmenau, Germany, and began his DJ career with his first mixtapes and radio shows in 1997 and 1998. Inspired by famous Frankfurt-based DJs C.A.L.I.P.H., Roey Marquis II. and DJ Chubby B., DJ Kitsune specialized in hip hop, rnb and reggae music and played his first gigs in some of the most legendary clubs in Frankfurt, like Funkadelic, Nachtleben or Cooky’s. With residencies in regional clubs like Opium (Frankfurt), 50 Grad (Mainz), O25 (Frankfurt) and Unity (Frankfurt), DJ Kitsune increased his popularity and brought his profession to a new level. During that time in 1999, DJ Kitsune hosted a weekly radio show. Together with Chubby B. and B.A., Kitsune hosted the radio show “Dope Beats“ on Hr XXL, the biggest regional radio channel for urban music. Later, Kitsune was DJing on Shade 45 in the US and JAM FM, a German hip hop radio channel, located in Berlin.
His career as a live DJ for German Rap-Stars started with an engagement for the Frankfurt rapper Jonesmann in 2003. When Jonesmann joined German Rap-Superstar Azad on his “Faust des Nordwestens“ tour, Kitsune was booked as DJ just for Jonesmann at first, but got hired by Azad for his complete tour shortly after. After finishing these shows, Kitsune took over the job as a Live-DJ for all of Azad’s shows, for the next 3 years, including the “Auf die harte Tour“ tour, where Azad was Co-Headliner with Bushido, one of Germany’s biggest rap artists. After quitting this and the cooperation with Bozz Music in 2008, Kitsune played a club tour with Curse, back to back with Kool DJ GQ. Various shows (like the Splash!-festival) came shortly after.
Throughout his career, DJ Kitsune worked as a live dj for various artists like Rasul (Square One), Pal One, Kool Savas, Cappadonna, Samy Deluxe, Bushido, Jeyz, Jamil & Jamal, Kurz Und Bündig, Mars Und Sti and Warheit und Lunafrow. For his multiple mixtapes, DJ Kitsune got awarded with the “Mixtape of the Month“ of the German Hip Hop magazine Juice. In 2006, he got nominated for “Best International Mixtape DJ“ at the famous Justo’s Mixtape Awards in New York. Therefore, DJ Kitsune is considered one of the most successful German hip hop mixtape DJs. At the same time, DJ Kitsune got invited to join Shadyville DJs, a union of powerful DJs, led by 50 Cent’s DJ Whoo Kid, which also includes DJ Cut Killer and Tim Westwood. As a part of joining Shadyville DJs, Kitsune got his own shows at Shade45, the radio station of Eminem, under the roof of Sirius XM Radio in the US & Canada. DJ Kitsune is known as an outstanding club dj and is constantly playing shows all over Europe and the US. Especially his fast, New York-inspired DJ style and the mixture of brand-new songs and many classics are characteristic of his live shows.
Starting Lineup
Starting Lineup is a management and publishing agency, brought to life by DJ Kitsune and Markus N. Ernst in 1999. Started as a booking agency for dj-friends like Chubby B., C.A.L.I.P.H., Biz, Giu and Kitsune himself, Starting Lineup rapidly grew and became an independent record label, releasing music productions on vinyl, CD, DVD and cassette, since 2001. Artists like Jonesmann, Azad, Curse, Rasul, Pal One, DJ Kitsune, Statik Selektah, Xavier Naidoo and others contributed guest appearances, own songs or whole albums to the Starting Lineup portfolio. After releasing most of the work on vinyl in the beginning, the later albums got released on CD or digital as well. In addition to that, Starting Lineup always had an eye on the management and marketing of their artists. These were (and in parts still are) among others Crada, Teesy, T-No, Rasul, Jonesmann, Pal One, Sti, Crada, Hila Bronstein, DJ Kitsune, Kaled Ibrahim and Nicodemus. DJ Kitsune is the founder and CEO (together with Markus N. Ernst) of Starting Lineup.
SL Allstars
In 2008, the first publishing company “SL Allstars“ was founded. “SL Allstars“ is part of the Hamburg publishing company AMV Talpa and is publishing the texts and compositions of Crada, DJ Kitsune, Markus E. Ernst and Hila Bronstein. Productions published by “SL Allstars“ are “Fireworks“ by Drake feat. Alicia Keys (2010 Universal Music), “Hyyer“ by Kid Cudi feat. Chip Tha Ripper (2009 Universal Music), “Get That Paper“ by D-Block feat. Sheek Louch, Styles P., Jadakiss & S.I. (2009 D-Block/E1 Entertainment) and other Crada-produced titles.[3]
Radio shows
Since the early days of his career, DJ Kitsune starred in radio shows. It started in 1998 with first mixing sessions at local radio station Radio X. Soon, DJ Kitsune replaced Roey Marquis II. as DJ of the weekly hip hop show “Dope Beats“ on Hr XXL, the most popular regional young-listeners station at that time. After YOU FM replaced Hr XXL, Kitsune was part of the Radio- and TV-Show “Clubnight“, hosting shows for another 3 years. As part of the “Shadyville DJs“, DJ Kitsune played frequent shows on Eminem’s radio station Shade45 on the US satellite radio-station Sirius XM Radio from 2006 till 2008. From summer 2009 till 2013, DJ Kitsune had his own radio show on Jam FM (Berlin), hosting the “DJ Kitsune Show“ every Wednesday from 10 pm till 11 pm.[4]
