The DS Wild Rubis is a prototype luxury compact crossover from the DS brand. It foreshadows the DS 6 unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show 2013.

Unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show on April 20, 2013, the Wild Rubis is a crossover concept from the DS brand. It is the first concept to receive a DS logo on its grille, without any distinctive sign linking it to Citroën. It is presented on its own stand, independent of Citroën, like any other brand exhibited at the show. Thus, after the DS Inside, which heralded the DS Line within Citroën, the DS Wild Rubis symbolizes the first stage in the birth of the DS Automobiles brand, the premium branch of the PSA group taking its independence in June 2014.

4.70 m long with a wheelbase of 2.90 m, 1.59 m high and 1.95 m wide, the Wild Rubis takes up the sophisticated classicism of the DS Number 9, adding the codes in force in SUVs. Roof bars extend the rear upright, and chrome highlights various bodywork elements. The design also tries to adapt to the wishes of Chinese customers, for example by offering larger doors at the rear than at the front. Opaque windows, however, prevent you from seeing the passenger compartment, which has remained in the draft state1,2. The general style of the Wild Rubis will be taken up on the DS 6N 1 series, produced and marketed in China from 2014.

Mechanical[edit]

Like the DS Number 9, the Wild Rubis is driven by a rechargeable hybrid block, which joins the 1.6 L THP in a 225 hp version to a 70 hp electric motor, connected to a lithium-ion battery and reserved for the wheels back. This architecture, partly taken from the HYbrid4 PSA, offers an alternative to the four-wheel drive of traditional 4x4s. Citroën announces an all-electric range of 50 km and CO2 emissions of around 43 g/km4.
