Romar Russon Daniel (born March 10, 1994), better known as Daddy Dinero, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and Mix engineer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a member of the hip hop duo FREEWIFI [1] formerly signed to Rostrum Records, alongside J. PLAZA.
Early life
Daddy Dinero was born Romar Russon Daniel on March 10, 1994, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.[2] While attending Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Dinero was a three-sport varsity athlete, but stood out in football[3], and wrestling[4]. In the Minnesota Class AAA Division, he ranked both 10th[5] and 8th[6] in the 160lbs weight class his Junior and Senior years wrestling at Hopkins High School. Participating in the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament for 2 consecutive years at 152lbs[7][8] led to Dinero continuing his wrestling career at Augsburg University where he studied Computer Science.[9]
Career
Collaboration records featuring artists Yung Simmie on Yeainn Know[10] and Tokyo, and Fat Nick on Xan Man[11] were Daddy Dinero's more popular records along with his "Drake Energy Remix" reaching over a million streams.[12][13] Dinero released his first Mixtape Vote For Dinero[14] in 2014, and followed up with his second The Inauguration[15] both via DatPiff. In 2016, Dinero was apart of a collaboration record titled "EGO" with artists J. PLAZA, and Tha Rift.[16][17] Rostrum Records president Benjy Grinberg signed the three shortly after their release forming the Hip Hop Group FREEWIFI[18] who released their debut project “Connected” February 2, 2018.[19] The City Pages stated that it made sense for the three to be in a group together after reviewing the single 'Took Off' on 'Connected', and labeling it as an "Instant appeal".[20] Before releasing Connected, FREEWIFI made their formal introduction as a group at one of the largest Hip Hop Music Festivals in the world Soundset,[21][22] and was labeled as Minnesota's newest supergroup.[23] The trio caught a wave during the SXSW Music Festival as they ripped the Revolt (TV network) showcase alongside artists YBN Almighty Jay, DaniLeigh, and Ghostface Killah of Wu-Tang Clan,[24][25] listing the group as an artist to watch on Karen Civil.[26]
FREEWIFI now consists of artists Daddy Dinero and J. PLAZA who followed up with their first EP FREEQUENCY September 25, 2018.[27] Minnesota's Radio Station The Current stated how, "Dinero is still one of the most dangerous emcees in the Twin Cities" after reviewing the booty shaking single Imma Go Get It.[28] Rents Due which is also on the EP was picked up by "The Chi", and is currently airing on Season 2, Episode 2 titled Every Day I'm Hustlin of the popular Showtime series.[29]
In addition to FREEWIFI, Dinero's popular single DAD flaunts to his fans how he inherited the nickname 'DAD' in 2019 and why he emembraces calling himself 'DAD'.[27]
