Dan Saks is an American musician, podcaster, and author living and working in Brooklyn. He is best known for his children's podcast Noodle Loaf and his series of books for children illustrated by Brooke Smart.
Biography
Dan Saks was born in Washington, DC and raised in University Park, MD. He has lived in Mexico City and Basel, Switzerland and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with his partner Nikkia Reveillac and two children.
Projects
Music
Saks performed as a multi-instrumentalist under the stage name Shank Bone Mystic in the hip-hop group Little T and One Track Mike and the Hanukkah rock band The LeeVees. He was the vocalist, guitarist and banjo player in the Sephardic rock band DeLeon, who were signed to JDub Records.[1]. Saks has also released several collections of music as Noodle Loaf featuring songs from the podcast of the same name. [2]
Podcast
In 2018 Dan Saks launched the music podcast for children, Noodle Loaf. Noodle Loaf received a Webby Awards honoree designation in 2020[3]. The show also received a Common Sense Media Selection Seal in 2022.[4] Noodle Loaf is a music education podcast for children that is inspired by Saks's Orff-Schulwerk music education training.[5]
Books
Dan Saks has published three board books with Penguin Random House that were illustrated by Brooke Smart[6]. Each book was named an Editor's Pick by Amazon Editors.[7] The book Families Belong was distributed by Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.[8]
