Daniel Ali

Daniel Ali (born 1959) is an Iraqi Kurdish author, speaker and Former Kurdish Muslim Scholar (Ulama/Mullah).

Biography[edit]

He was born in Iraqi Kurdistan; he experienced the ethnic cleansing and Anfal campaign during the Baathist period from 1975 to 1988. After the end of the first Gulf War, married Sara, an American woman in Iraqi Kurdistan. In early 1993 they moved to the United States, where he became a born-again Christian and was baptised in Christian Assembly in Vienna, Va.

A convert from Islam for nearly two decades, Daniel Ali has been a well-sought after speaker for both religious and secular venues. Daniel's first book, Inside Islam, A Guide for Catholics was published by Ascension Press in 2003; the seconde, published mainly for Protestant and Muslim audiences, titled Out of Islam, Free at Last, was published in 2007 by Tate Publishing House. Its target audiences are Protestants and Muslims who wish to know more about Islam.

The well known Catholic theologian William Most taught them the Catechism 1996-97. On 13 July 1998 Daniel Ali and his wife joined the Catholic Church. In August, 2001, Ali launched the Christian-Islamic Forum and in 2002 together with Fr. Mitch Pacwa, EWTN produced a DvD about Islam and Christianity.

He often travels the United States speaking to both secular and religious audiences about Islam. His writings and seminars over the last 15 years have taken him throughout the United States and Canada.
