Daria Marx Marcinkowska[2] (born 25 October 1995),[3] known mononymously as Daria (stylized in all caps), is a Polish singer, composer,[4] songwriter[5] and music producer.[6]
Biography[edit]
Marcinkowska grew up in Łazisk Górnych.[7] At the age of seven, she enrolled in the church choir.[8] At the age of 18, she went to London to study for five years at the London College of Music.[1] During her studies, she sang before the Swedish Royal Family.[9]
In the autumn of 2019 she participated in The Voice of Poland on TVP2;[10][11] and was eliminated in the battle stage.[12] After participating in the Polish version of The Voice she signed a record contract with the German label Pelican Songs.[1][10] In April 2020, she released the single "Leave a Sign" which she recorded with Carsky.[13][5] On March 26, 2021 she released the song "Love Blind",[14] which conquered the Polish charts,[15] and made it onto the top streaming charts of Brazil, Norway and Belgium.[16]
On 8 October 2021, she released the single "Paranoia",[17] which made it to the AirPlay – Top chart list in the first week[15] and it was also played many times on Russian[18] and North Macedonian radio stations.[16] On 19 February 2022, she performed "Paranoia" on the TVP2 National selection for the Eurovision Song ContestTu bije serce Europy!Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję![19] where she placed second with 39% of the vote.[20][21] Alongside German DJ duo Kush Kush she released the single "Never Ending Story",[22] which reached #1 on the AirPlay – Top chart.
In the spring of 2023, she took part in the eighteenth edition of Your Face Sounds Familiar, a TV show by Polsat,[23] where after nine episodes she reached the final and placed second.
