Garrick Babel Dassi (born 25 February 1998, Bamougoum, Cameroon) is a Cameroonian entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Gbionik group. He is a talented biomedical engineer, he designs and works in the development and improvement of medical equipment [1] for disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, using artificial intelligence. He has built several devices like the COVID-19 test, medical App and the smart baby incubator [2] [3] [4]
Early life and education
Garrick Babel was born in Bamougoum on 25 February 1998 into a middle-class Christian Cameroonian family, but he spent parts of his childhood in the cities of Garoua and Bafoussam. In 2015, after obtaining his baccalauréat, he went to study in Douala. He first studied for a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical engineering at the Institute Universitaire of Coast and later went to India where he successfully obtained a second bachelor of technology in BME at Ajeenkya DY Patil University.
Career
Honors and awards
He was nominated and felicitated as the ambassador of the non-governmental organization (NGO) Africa Asia Youth Foundation (AAYFO)[5]. He participated in Africa Talks : Episode 8 [6] [7], and he was named the "Un soldat contre le COVID-19" by the national newspaper Mutations of Cameroon. [8]
