David Channing Williams

David Channing-Williams (born 20 November 1947) is a British businessman, and a former Chief Executive of Vodafone UK.

Early life[edit]

He is the younger brother of Simon Channing Williams (born 1945), who produced films for Mike Leigh. Their father was Major General John Channing-Williams (1908–90) and their mother was Margaret Blachford. He has another brother.

Career[edit]

In the early 1990s he was Managing Director of the Great British Lottery Company.

Vodafone[edit]

He joined Vodafone in 1985. He was appointed to the board of Vodafone in 1996. He became Chief Executive (Managing Director) of Vodafone UK in January 1997.[1] He left as Chief Executive in March 1999.

Personal life[edit]

He married Tania in June 1984 in Wantage in Oxfordshire. They have a daughter (born July 1985) and a son (born December 1988). His nephew Nick Channing-Williams (son of Simon) is a show jumper.
