David Greenbaum is president[1] of Searchlight Pictures and jointly manages all areas of the speciality studio with fellow president Matthew Greenfield. A 12-year Searchlight veteran,[2] Greenbaum has overseen many of Searchlight's most successful films to date. Founded in 1994 as Fox Searchlight Pictures, the company's titles have grossed over $5 billion worldwide, amassing 46 Academy Awards including five Best Picture winners since 2009: Slumdog Millionaire, 12 Years a Slave, Birdman, The Shape of Water, and Nomadland, 51 BAFTA awards, and 28 Golden Globe Awards.

Greenbaum has worked closely with filmmakers from across the world, shepherding a variety of commercial and critical hits including Nomadland, The Shape of Water, The Favourite, Gifted, Wild, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Tree of Life, Black Swan, and many others.[3]

Career[edit]

Greenbaum joined Searchlight as senior vice-president of production in 2010[4] and was promoted to president of production in 2016. He previously served as vice president, production and development at Miramax Films where he helped shepherd films such as No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, The Diving Bell and The Butterfly and The Queen (2006 film). 

Prior to his career in entertainment, Greenbaum worked for former Israeli Prime Minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner Shimon Peres at the Peres Center for Peace in Israel.

Greenbaum serves on the Executive Branch Executive Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and is a voting member of AMPAS and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

Greenbaum holds a BA from Cornell University and an MA from Oxford University.
