INTRODUCTION[edit]
Dr David K Pillai (born February 17, 1965) is an Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist who is the current chairman of Multiple Educational and Healthcare Organisations namely Kings International Medical Academy, St. Andrews Education Foundation, All Saints High School and N.M Wadia Hospital Pune. He is also a Board Member of the Poona Christian Medical Association. As a chairman of Kings International Medical Academy, Dr David K Pillai and his team have succeeded in providing top-class medical education to over 5000 students from India at an affordable fee.
EARLY LIFE[edit]
Dr David K Pillai was born into a poverty-stricken family in Chatrapatti, a small village on the outskirts of Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. His parents are Koil Pillai (father) and Maathamal (mother) and he was the third of four children.
CAREER[edit]
Dr David K Pillai began his career in an SDA publishing company in Bangalore and was later promoted to Press Manager. He was then recruited to work as a senior accountant at Lowry Adventist college, Bangalore.
Davao Medical School Foundation, Philippines, is one of the colleges that provide premium quality medical education to its students in the entire country. Dr David K Pillai established relationship with the college to become the sole authorized associate that would send Indian students for medical education to the Philippines.
This association has been highly successful and has bred hundreds of working doctors in India and abroad.
EDUCATION[edit]
Dr David K Pillai attended Spicer Memorial college and graduated in 1991 with a bachelors in Business Administration, he also completed his MBA in the same. He received his Ph.D. degree shortly after. He finished his schooling in ED Thomas Memorial Higher Secondary School, where he did his 10+1 and 10+2 and James Memorial Matric Higher Secondary school, where he finished middle school.
AWARDS[edit]
- Dr David K Pillai was recognised by the state of Maryland, United States for his service in the medical field by providing low cost high quality Medical education. This recognition was awarded by the Comptroller of the state of Maryland, Peter Franchot.
- Dr David K Pillai was also awarded on November 22, 2020 the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the 2nd annual Global Medical Excellence Awards held at the house of Parliaments, London, United Kingdom, in recognition of his contributions in the fields of healthcare and medical education.
