David Levy is an American composer, audio engineer and sound designer. Levy is best known for his work with Rooster Teeth, a video production company which produced Red vs. Blue, Gen:Lock and Sex Swing. Levy has also composed for several video games, shows and films.

Early life

Levy first started taking piano lessons at the age of 9 and by the age of 14, he switched to drums. Throughout high school and college, Levy was in bands playing musical styles ranging from heavy metal and grunge rock to fusion jazz. While Levy was in college, he decided to pursue a career as a sound designer and joined a mentor/apprenticeship program in central Florida. Once Levy had graduated from college, he moved to south Florida and joined Power Station Studios.[1]

Career

Levy got his "professional roots in the music industry were planted in the Orlando entertainment scene with tracking, producing and mixing countless music artists, composing for giants like Disney and Verizon and doing sound design, engineering and production for album collections, TV shows & video games."[2]

In late 2004, Levy then moved to south Florida where he started working at Power Station Studios as an intern, working his way up to chief engineer, which took seven to eight years.

While at Power Station Studios, Levy worked with high profile figures like record producer, Tony Bongiovi, bassist, Doug Lubahn and other audio engineers like Bob Katz and Ron Saint Germain.[2]

In 2012, due to work pressures as an audio engineer, Levy decided to dedicate his time to composing music full-time.[1]
