David Aaron Logan (born August 27, 1969) is a Canadian composer for film, television and video games. He has been nominated for a Hollywood in Music Media Award and has composed the music for popular games such as X-Men - Mutant Academy, Pac-Man World 2, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty and the re-released arcade classic Asteroids.

His music has been extensively used in television, both in advertisements like Nike's 2004 Summer Olympics campaign featuring Marion Jones and television shows like Sex and the City, Face Off and Access Hollywood. He was also a feature composer for Disney's Ready or Not.

In 2016 Logan moved to Rome, Italy, to work on a series of feature films including his original soundtrack for La Guerra dei Cafoni and the film ROSA.

Personal Life[edit]

Logan was born in Toronto, Canada and started being exposed to music at a very young age. His father would listen to classical music while his mother listened to Motown and The Beatles. At the age of 11 he began making his first connections to music listening to bands such as Blondie, The English Beat, ecc. After 4 years his father bought him a set of drums and at the age of 17 he went to the Oakwood Collegiate Institute in Toronto where he became an orchestral classical percussionist. His passion for composing started while studying at the Interlochen Arts Academy during his final year of high school, and in 1990 Logan went to the Berklee College of Music where he started as a performance major before transferring to the Film Scoring department and graduating with honors after four years.

Career[edit]

Logan began his career working on a writing team for the Disney show Ready or Not in 1994, and at the age of 27 he moved to Los Angeles, California where he started writing music for the Video Game industry. His work with Activision led to working on titles such as Pitfall 3D: Beyond the Jungle, Asteroids and X-men: Mutant Academy. In 2002 he composed the music for the Namco game Pac-Man World 2 which went on to sell more than one million copies. Logan also composed an orchestral arrangement of the original Pac-Man music for the release of the game.

In the gaming arena he is a licensed Authorized Developer for Sony and Nintendo, and a licensed content creator for X-Box. In addition to this he is also the first composer to compose streaming Interactive MIDI music for Sony Playstation. In 2011 Logan worked on the IOS release Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty for which he received a Hollywood Music in Media Award nomination.

In 2016 he moved to Rome, Italy to work on a series of feature films including his original soundtrack for La Guerra dei Cafoni. Recently his soundtrack for the film ROSA premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival in 2019.
