DeRuosi Nut is an independently owned food processor. The company is owned by The De Ruosi Group LLC D.B.A. DeRuosi Nut. DeRuosi Nut is a walnut processing facility located in California's central valley. They process both inshell and shelled walnuts and offer a vast variety of walnuts including Chandler, Hartley, Vina, Livermore, and Howard.[1]
History
In 1947, DeRuosi Nut was incorporated.[2]
The company remains based in Escalon, California and currently employs approximately 100 people.[3]
Red Walnuts
DeRuosi Nut provides an assortment of California walnut varieties to markets in the U.S. and around the globe. In a news article, Masonek said he is excited about how the Livermore variety is gaining popularity.[4]
“The red, or Livermore, walnuts do well anywhere that they are seen. In the overseas markets, they want the best of the best,” he said, adding that the red color is a big selling point in Asian countries, as it symbolizes happiness and good fortune. “China grows more walnuts than we do in the U.S., but they are a net importer; they eat all of their walnuts and import more.”
