Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jahangirnagar University (Bengali: কম্পিউটার বিজ্ঞান ও প্রকৌশল বিভাগ, জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is one of the leading Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department in Bangladesh. The department is established in 1991 under the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences in Jahangirnagar University. After the establishment of the department, it plays a good role in developing ICT professionals and researchers to meet challenges in the ICT sector of Bangladesh. It has brought more than 400 graduates which serve on the ICT sector in the country and abroad. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin is the present chairman of the department.[1]
Background[edit]
In the decades of 90’s, ICT sector in Banglasesh was growing so fast. But this sector was lacking from skilled technical professionals. To meet the demand of the country, Jahangirnagar University established a department named Department of Electronics and Computer Science in 1991 which changes later as Department of Computer Science and Engineering. At first it is situated on Physics Building, now it moves on its own building which is on the university campus in Savar, Dhaka.

- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Executive Master in Computer Science (EMCS): EMCS offers for ICT graduates from other university, science discipline graduates or any engineering discipline graduates.[2]
