Jahangirnagar University Science Club (JUSC) is a science based voluntary social organization operated by the students of Jahangirnagar University.[1] It was established on 17 August 2005 with a vision to spreading the blessings of science across the country.[2] It is a registered organization under the government authority National Museum of Science and Technology(NMST) since 2018.[3] The club works on skill development, acquiring and promoting scientific knowledge, and actively takes part in a scientific and technological revolution for the welfare of the nature and human beings.[4] It has received the highest amounts of the grants as a science club from the Ministry of Science and Technology (Bangladesh) for the fiscal year 2020-21.[5][6]

Governing Body[edit]
The club is governed by the three bodies: Advisory Body, Mentoring Body, and Executive Body. Advisory body forms with a Chief Patron, a Chief Advisor, and several advisors.[10] The Vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University acts as the Chief Patron by default[11], the Chief Advisor and Advisors are appointed from the faculty members of Jahangirnagar University by the Executive Body maintaining a selection procedure according to its constitution. [12] The Executive Body is the main organ of JUSC. Executive Body is formed for one year where the valid students of Jahangirnagar University play the role of executive member. The Executive Body consists of a President, two Vice President, a General Secretary, two Joint Secretary, a Treasurer, an office secretary, and head of club's ten departments. [13]

Activities[edit]
The club is actively working on different areas like organizing competitions, seminars, workshops, conducting research, skill development training, etc. JUSC has funded a research project about risk modeling of non-communicable diseases in 2016.[22] It is now working on a research project for assessing the comparison of the hygiene practice before and after the COVID-19 and the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 among the Bangladeshi People. Publications[edit]
JUSC publishes a quarterly science magazine named Nucleus[44] and a yearly magazine named Orbital. It is also working on several research projects under its scientific research department and scientific article publishing in journals.[45][46][47][48]
Membership[edit]
JUSC recruits members every year maintaining different criteria from the valid students of Jahangirnagar University. [49] It offers six types of memberships: Executive Member, Member, Associate Member, Volunteer, Alumni Member, and Honorary Member.
