) is a Telugu language television drama series airing on Star Maa from 17 August 2020 and is still on air. The storyline is based on 1982 Telugu language film Devatha. The series star Suhasini, Arjun Ambati, Vyshnavi Gade and Anila Sreekumar in lead roles.
Plot[edit]
The story revolves around three individuals, Rukmini, Aditya and Satya. Rukmini is a kind, hardworking, determined, bold and illiterate women with extraordinary power and courage. She lives in her village with her widowed mother Bhagyamma and elder sister Kamala, who is also widowed right after 6 months of her marriage. Rukmini's younger sister Satya studies in Pondicherry. Right from childhood, Satya and Rukmini share a close relationship with each other and Rukmini remained illiterate for the sake of her brilliant sister.
While in Pondicherry, Aditya is an easy-go-lucky guy who falls in love with Sathya. Initially hesitant, Satya reciprocates his feelings. Satya returns to her village and decides to confess about feelings for Aditya to Rukmini. However, Satya lands in a dilemma after Aditya's mother Devudamma arranges his marriage with Rukmini. Rukmini is elated about her marriage proposal while Satya decides to sacrifice her love for the sake of Rukmini. Aditya is irked by his wedding arrangements with Rukmini and confesses to Devudamma that he loves Satya. Devudamma considers her son's feelings and asks him to bring his lover. However, Satya refuses to come and lies Aditya that she does not love him.
Broken Aditya accepts to marry Rukmini. Since the family members addresses Satya as Bujjamma, Rukmini's sister Satya is mistaken as Bujjamma by Aditya. However, after marriage, Aditya eventually learns the truth. Rukmini learns that Aditya does not love him and is shattered. She decides to win his heart and Satya helps her. Elsewhere, Rukmini learns that her father-in-law Eshwar Prasad is secondly married to Alivelu due to which his relationship with Devudamma deteriorated. The thing Devudamma is unaware of, is that Eshwar Prasad has a daughter Kirti from Alivelu. Rukmini understands Eshwar Prasad and treats him like her own father. Meanwhile, Eshwar Prasad begins to suspect a relationship between Aditya and Satya. Alivelu dies leaving Kirti orphaned. Rukmini helps Eshwar Prasad conduct Alivelu's last rites which Devudamma is unaware of. She rebukes Eshwar Prasad and restricts the family from talking with him. Aditya blames Rukmini for Eshwar Prasad's condition and demands her to reunite her parents. After much struggle, Devudamma forgives Eshwar Prasad elating the family.
Soori, Eshwar Prasad's younger brother attempts to kill Kirti to reduce shares of the property. However, Rukmini saves her and hides her in her parental home where Bhagyamma and Kamala lives. In a drunken state, Aditya consummates his marriage with Rukmini assuming her to be Satya. Meanwhile, Devudamma arranges Satya's marriage with Vasanth, Aditya's friend and son of Devudamma's namesake sister Vedavathi. Satya accepts to marry Vasanth hoping to be far from Aditya and Rukmini's marital life. However, Vedavathi calls off the engagement learning that Satya is pregnant but the family is unaware that Aditya is father of Sathya's unborn child. Devudamma takes Satya's responsibility and tries to find her boyfriend after Satya refuses to say about him.
Devudamma takes Aditya, Rukmini and Satya to Pondicherry hoping to find Satya's lover. Meanwhile, Aditya falls in love with Rukmini. They return to the village after some days. Rukmini learns that Satya is her adoptive sister, whom Bhagyamma adopted after the death of her parents, accidentally caused by young Rukmini. Rukmini thus begins to take extra care of Satya. Elsewhere, Basha, Rukmini's friend confesses his love to Kamala, who also loves him but is hesitant to accept the proposal as she is widowed. A con artist Nanda claims himself to be the father of Satya's child and blackmails Aditya. However, Rukmini learsn the truth exposes him though unaware that Aditya is Satya's lover. Eshwar Prasad's younger brother Ranga's estranged wife Kanakam returns to avenge Ranga's affair which caused her to leave the house. She helps Rukmini expose Nanda but has hidden conspiracies against Devudamma for getting her married to Ranga, a spoilt womanizer.
Meanwhile, Devudamma banishes Satya for hiding about Nanda's true nature. Rukmini suspects Aditya after she finds Satya's things in his cupboard, which Satya gifted him when they were in love. Rukmini confronts him and he reveals the truth. Rukmini blames herself for separating Aditya and Satya and decides to reunite them. Meanwhile, She learns about her pregnancy but hides it. She begins to ignore Aditya hoping to be separated. However, Devudamma misunderstands Rukmini and blames her for troubling Aditya. Helpless, Rukmini spills the beans about Aditya and Satya's relationship to Devudamma.
