Dilip Sen–Sameer Sen are an uncle-nephew music director duo in the Hindi film industry. Some of their hit movies include “Aaina” (1993), “Muqabla”(1993), “Aag” (1994), “Yeh Dillagi” (1994), “Raghuveer” (1995), “Kartavya (1995), “Itihaas” (1997), “Aflatoon” (1997), “Salakhein” (1998), “Kohram” (1999), “Anari No.1” (1999), “Arjun Pandit” (1999) and “Haqeeqat” (1995). Background[edit]

Dilip Sen and Sameer Sen hail from a musically illustrious family in Sujangarh in rural Rajasthan where their ancestors have been into music and dance for centuries. Dilip Sen is the son of renowned music director Jamal Sen who was active in the Hindi film industry soon after independence. Sameer Sen, the other half of the duo is the son of Dilip’s brother, Shambu Sen, who was a famous choreographer in the industry. Together they formed the duo called Dilip Sen - Sameer Sen.

Career[edit]

Their maiden movie as music directors was Jagdeep's production called Soorma Bhopali which they signed in 1983. The movie released in 1988.

The duo is most famous for their musical score in the film Aaina (‘Goriya Re Goriya Re...’) and Yeh Dillagi (‘Ole Ole...’ & 'Honton Pe Bas Tera Naam Hai...') in the early ’90s, under the Yashraj banner. Their other successful scores include Meherbaan (1993), Kartavya and Haqeeqat (1995), Ziddi (1997) , Aflatoon (1997) and Arjun Pandit (1999).

Singers who have sung under their music direction include Asha Bhosle, Udit Narayan, Lata Mangeshkar, Jaspinder Narula, Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal, Suresh Wadkar, Alka Yagnik, Remo Fernandes, Kavitha Krishnamurthy, Nitin Mukesh, Sadhana Sargam and Hariharan.

Separation[edit]

The duo parted ways a few years later, as they said that their temperaments were different. After a brief rejoinder they finally separated ways for good.[2]

Post-Seperation[edit]

While Dilip Sen is operating alone under the old established name of Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen, Sameer and his brothers , Lalit and Sanjeev joined hands to form a trio, Sen Brothers.
