Disappearance of Ali Gilmore

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Ali I'isha Gilmore (born January 5, 1976, in Riviera Beach, Florida)[1] was a pregnant African-American woman who disappeared from Tallahassee, Florida in 2006.

Background[edit]

Gilmore was born in Riviera Beach to parents Carl and Lawretta McLawrence.[2] Gilmore attended Jupiter High School, where she ran track.[1][3] Later, she graduated from Florida A&M University.[1][3] After college, she worked as an analyst at the Florida Department of Health, and kept her job at the Publix where she had worked since high school.[1][4][2]

Disappearance[edit]

Gilmore had recently separated from her husband, James, in October 2005, and at the time of her disappearance in February 2006, she four months pregnant and unsure of the identity of the baby's father.[1][2]

On Thursday, February 2, 2006, Gilmore drove to home on Loraine Court after her shift at Publix.[2][1] Her uniform was later found at home, indicating she arrived home.[1][2] She then failed to show up for work the next day, February 3, or the following Monday, February 6th.[2] Her boss and co-worker decided then to alert the authorities.[5]

On February 3, Gilmore and her estranged husband were scheduled for a counseling session.[5] Neither attended, and James claimed to have overslept.[5][3] The two were said to be trying to reconcile their relationship.[5]

The home, which James had recently moved out from, did not show any signs of a struggle.[1] The front door was locked, with the porch light left on.[1] A window in the spare bedroom was unlocked.[3] Her purse and wallet were left in her car, which was in the driveway.[1] Her house keys were missing.[1]

Investigation[edit]

Billboards and yard signs went up all over Tallahassee, but no trace of Gilmore has been found.[1][4][6] Her bank account and credit cards have not shown any activity.[4]

James Gilmore voluntarily took a polygraph test and was ruled out as a suspect.[6][1]

In October 2021, the Tallahassee Police Department named 40-year-old Dwight Aldridge as a suspect.[1] Aldridge is thought to have been the father of Gilmore's baby.[1] His phone pinged near Gilmore's house the night she was last seen.[1]

In the media[edit]

Gilmore's case was covered on the Montel Williams Show, Nancy Grace, and Dateline.[1][7]
