Dmitry Gennadievich Lazarev (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.; born January 17, 1975, Moscow, USSR) is a Russian swimming coach, Honored Coach of Russia, and Master of Sports of the USSR in swimming.
Biography
Lazarev graduated with honors from the Moscow State Academy of Physical Culture (MSAPC) in 1996. He has over 25 years of experience working with children and elite athletes, starting with beginner groups.[1]
In recognition of his achievements in coaching, Dmitry Lazarev was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Coach of Russia" in 2018.[2] In 2022, he was awarded the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" I degree.[3]
Under his guidance, not only Olympic medalists and record holders have been trained, but also numerous Masters of Sport and Candidates for Master of Sport. Lazarev has also worked at the international club "Energy Standard" and is one of the leading coaches of the Russian national swimming team.[4]

Current activities
Dmitry Lazarev continues his active involvement in swimming as a senior coach, preparing elite athletes. Notably, he remains the personal coach of Kliment Kolesnikov, who aims to compete at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships.[5]
In addition, Lazarev actively participates in professional coaching events. In October 2024, he was a speaker at the annual swimming coaches’ forum, presenting on a comprehensive approach to long-term swimmer development, covering areas such as long-term planning, goal setting, microcycle design, workload management, medical support, and psychological preparation.
Lazarev also works as a senior coach at the Moscow Swimming Academy, leveraging his extensive experience with athletes of all levels, from beginners to masters of sport.[6]
Awards
- In 2018, he was awarded the honorary sports title “Honored Coach of Russia.”[2]
- By decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated July 1, 2022, Dmitry Lazarev was awarded the state award - the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" I degree.[3]
