Docket Health, Inc. is a New York City-based digital health company best known for creating Docket®, a mobile application that offers consumers access to verifiable immunization records.[1] Docket® is actively deployed in Minnesota,[2] New Jersey,[3] and Utah.[4]

History[edit]

The company was founded in 2016 by Michael Perretta and Nathan Scott, who had met as roommates at George Washington University.[5] Docket®, which was originally conceived as a platform for patients to store and share information with providers using HL7® FHIR® and OAuth 2.0, won the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Move Health Data Forward Challenge in 2017.[6]

Following the Move Health Data Forward Challenge, the Docket® team collaborated with HHS Office of the CTO to expand consumer access to personal and family immunization records prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.[7] Docket® was named one of six finalists in the first LifeBridge Health and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Innovation Challenge in June 2019, where the company pitched "partnering with public health agencies to expand consumer access to immunization records with human-centered design and QR codes."[8]

On June 8, 2021, Deseret News published an opinion piece showcasing Docket® as a digital alternative to paper-based immunization records available to Utah residents.[9]

On July 12, 2021, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced that New Jersey residents with a valid email address or phone number on-file with New Jersey Immunization Information System (NJIIS) could access a digital replacement copy of their COVID-19 immunization record using Docket®.[10]

On August 22, 2021, Fox 13 Salt Lake City reported that Utah businesses had encouraged use of Docket® for vaccine verification.[11] In a follow-up story, Fox 13 Salt Lake City published instructions for exporting Docket® SMART Health Card QR codes to Apple Wallet.[12]

On September 15, 2021, Minnesota Department of Health announced the launch of Docket® in Minnesota.[13] Docket® won TechUnited:NJ's Startup of the Year award at Propelify Innovation Festival on October 6, 2021.[14]

On January 26, 2022, The New York Times highlighted Docket® as a viable option for consumers to access personal immunization records.[15] The Washington Post ran a similar story on March 14, 2022 which identified Docket® as a solution to enable vaccine verification for international travel.[16]
