The main theme of doctor insta is bring healthcare to everyone’s fingertips.[3] It is the India’s first video medicine company having aim of providing medical services using internet.

Doctor Insta with the aid of its strategic alliances with online pharmacies and diagnostics lab provides e-health services in various medical fields such as General Medicine, Diet and Nutrition, Psychology and Pediatrics.[4] Total of nine different fields are covered. Doctor Insta is available as application on both Google Play Store and App store.[5]

History[edit]

Doctor Insta[6] launched as a startup in late 2015. The reason which made Munjal to take the decision was his ankle injury in 2012. His friend connected him to US base online medical service which gave rise to the idea of Doctor Insta.[7] Amit wanted to make a video medicine platform to bridge the gap between doctors and patients. He managed to raise $500 K (3.3 Indian Crore) from Rishi Parti and BrahmaX Ventures.[8]

Doctor Insta decided to expand its network by linking with pharmacies and diagnostics labs across the India in early 2016. Alliance with famous pharmacies such as BigChemist, Nedmeds, Ziggy and diagnostics lab such as Thyrocare and Metropolis was formed.[9] Doctor Insta announced that it would go live in Africa, America and South Asian countries.[10]

In an interview, Munjal said that he wanted to pave the way for telemedicine in India. In the next funding round, led by RoundGlass Partners, Doctor Instra got huge funding of $2.5 M ( 17 Indian Crore) in December 2016.[11][12][13] Furthermore, it was announced that 500 medical kiosks, 250 doctors, 5 million customers and 1000 health pillars would be part of next agenda.

Reception[edit]

Doctor Insta entered into the market as a competitor of similar startup such as Healthenablr India, iClinic, Welcome Cure and mHealth Ventures. However Doctor Insta managed to attract attention of investors. Fundraising of $500,000 and then $2.5 million fueled the growth further.[14] According to Munjal, company is promoted using social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Viber etc. Discounts were provided after Doctor Insta partnered with major coupon providers in India.[15]

Munjal revealed to Deccan Herald in May 2016 that startup is growing at rate of 15% per month and one lac users have already registered.[16]
