Domenico Torrisi
Domenico (Nico) Torrisi (born November 18, 2023) is an Italian politician and businessman. He played a crucial role in the management of the crisis of the national crisis, called the "Fontanarossa Fire" on July 16, 2023 [1].

Domenico Torrisi, commonly known as Nico, was born in Sicily on November 18, 1971.
Education[edit]
Torrisi obtained his high school science diploma with a 60/60 grade at the Leonardo da Vinci High School in Catania. He obtained a degree in Economics and Commerce with a grade of 110/110 in 2001 and graduated in General Management in Tourism at the Bocconi School of Business Management in Milan in 2003.
Professional Career[edit]
Torrisi started his professional career in tourism management straight after completing his degree. From 2006 to 2009 he was vice-president of the regional union of hoteliers (U.R.A.S. Federalberghi, Palermo) with responsibility for international relations.
From 2003 to 2014 and again, after his political experience, since 2016 he has been director of the Baia Verde joint-stock company (Italian S.p.A.), owner of the Grand Hotel Baia Verde in Aci Castello

The Fontanarossa Fire crisis management[edit]
Notably, Torrisi was the CEO in charge during the Fontanarossa Fire on July 16, 2023. The fire destroyed the Terminal A of the Fontanarossa Airport in Catania and forced them to reroute numerous flights during July and August 2023. The fire resulted in more than 4,000-holiday cancellations, 40 million euros of economic damage and image damage for the whole region.
