Domino Data Lab

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Domino Data Lab is an enterprise software company with two products for data scientists, the Domino Data Science Platform and Domino Model Monitor. The Domino Data Science Platform centralizes data science work and infrastructure across the enterprise for collaboratively building, training, deploying, and managing data science models. Domino enables data scientists to use popular tools of the trade, such as Python, R, Apache Spark, PyTorch, and TensorFlow, on a centralized platform with self-serve access to infrastructure and scalable compute. It also enables data science leaders to track the status and health of data science projects and production assets (e.g., model APIs). Domino Model Monitor (DMM) creates a dashboard to monitor the performance of all models across an entire organization.

History[edit]

Domino Data Lab, Inc. was founded in 2013 by three Bridgewater Associates alumni. Nick Elprin, the Domino CEO, was previously a senior technologist at Bridgewater Associates; his team designed and built the hedge fund firm’s next-generation research platform. His co-founders included Chris Yang, now Domino’s CTO, and Matthew Granade. Matthew went back to work as a managing director in asset management, but he still serves on the Domino Board of Directors[1].

Funding[edit]

In June 2020, Domino Data Lab announced that it had raised a $43 million Series E round from Highland Capital Partners and other investors, including Dell Technologies Capital - Dell remains a customer. This brings Domino Data Lab's total funding to $128 million[2]. Other investors include Sequoia Capital, Zetta Venture Partners, Bloomberg Beta and In-Q-Tel[1].
