Don Salem Lunzeyi Phillip, better known by his stage name Don HardRisk[1] or, in short, Risk[2], is a Namibian rap musical artist, songwriter and poet based and residing in France.

Biography

Don Salem Lunzeyi Phillip[3] was born on March 22, 1993, to an Angolan father and Congolese mother. At the age of three, they moved to Namibia, to Osire Refugee Camp, where he attended his primary school until the sixth grade. He then moved to Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia, where he spent most of his life, including attending Dawid Bezuidenhout High School and studying for a PC Engineering degree at I.I.T Namibia.

Career

Born & Raised African, Don HardRisk, or Risk, in short, considers himself more of a poet than a rapper. He first began writing poetry at the age of eleven; his poems were mostly about love. He grew up in a diverse home, and the music he grew up listening to was broad, ranging from Hip Hop, RnB, Soul, Classical music, Rumba, Kizomba/Zouk and Dance-hall. Some of the artists and producers who inspired him were Judy Boucher, Phillip Monteiro, A Tribe Called Quest, Tupac, Phife Dawg, J Dilla, Eminem, Immortal Technique, Jay Z, Kanye West, Brandy and R. Kelly.

He began rapping his poems at the age of thirteen and figuring out his style. He co-founded Young Ballers[4], a rap group formed in 2008. In 2017, he moved to France from Namibia and began working solo. He dropped his first project in 2018, *Listen At Own Risk (The Origin Stories)*[5], in which he worked with producers such as Crank Lucas and Anno Domini Nation. He speaks English, French, and Portuguese. Although he mainly performs in English, he often throws in other languages to add flavour.

Specializing in Hip-hop/Rap with inspirational lyrics, African folklores and parables, true-life stories and experiences, he probably won't make you dance but he will touch your heart, mind, and soul. A fusion of conscious and alternative rap but still keeping you entertained with modern-day sound. He performs real-life issues that had happened to him and those around him; he moulds them in a form of poetry, storytelling in a cryptic style, and presents them to you to decipher. He released his second mixtape on November 26, 2021, titled *13th Apostle*[6][7][8][9]
