Claude Rhoden (born May 16, 1994), better known by his stage name Don Meeno, is a Canadian rapper and songwriter from Brampton, Ontario. Don Meeno, originally from Hamden, Connecticut, has been in Canada since the age of 12. His first project “Rookie Year” (2012); included features with the likes of French Montana, Tory Lanez, and was hosted by DJ Holiday. After “Rookie Year”, Don Meeno was featured on a collaborative project called “YYZ” (2014), followed by the “Da Giinchy Code” EP in April 2015 and his most recent “Giinchy 5x” in February 2016.
Early life
Meeno was born in Hamden, Connecticut on May 16, 1994. He moved to Canada at the age of 12 and now resides in Brampton, Ontario. Soon after his move, Meeno took up music and began focusing on his music career. Meeno credits his older brother for introducing him to lyrical composition. He states: “My big brother was always writing rhymes in his bedroom, so I fed off of that for a while, and by the time I came out here to Canada I was writing rhymes of my own in my bedroom.”[1]
Career
In 2012, Meeno released his first album, titled Rookie Year,[2] which featured French Montana, Tory Lanez, and was hosted by DJ Holiday. In 2014, Meeno was featured on YYZ, which was a collaborative project.[3] In April 2014, he released his EP Da Giinchy Code.[4] On October 30, 2015, he released the video for his single “Love Don’t Live Here”.[5]
Don Meeno has toured in Canada and the United States, and has shared the stage with artists such as Fabolous, Jadakiss, French Montana, Waka Flocka, and Kirko Bangz.[citation needed]
