Emokhare Donald, known professionally as Donald Loiz, is a Nigerian Afrobeat singer and songwriter, one of Nigeria’s fast-rising Afrobeat artists of his generation. He started his musical career in early 2018 with his freestyle videos online, and later recorded three singles in 2020. His first single was titled “A Letter,” which gained a lot of attention from audiences on streaming platforms and websites. Donald Loiz was born in Edo State, Nigeria, in 2003, and later moved to France to continue his career internationally. He has been featured in some shows and music festivals in France. He won an award as the first runner-up in his first musical competition, Vite la scène, at Villeneuve-la-Roche, hosted by the Collectif des associations populaires musicales organisation in La Rochelle, France. He has also been featured in a concert, the fête de la musique, with NDH, Neal l'Apache, Tonton Gee, Dywé, and many more, hosted by One station, a popular musical and information radio channel 92.6 in La Rochelle, France, and also featured in the fête de la Saint-Jean by the Collectif des associations with Neal l'Apache, Tonton Gee, NDH, and many more artists. EARLY LIFE
Growing up as a kid, Donald Loiz always wanted to be in the spotlight.
And he is a multi-talented artist or performer; he had other careers going on before he discovered his passion for music. He was a dancer at the age of 4 and started going to concerts and festivals in his community for dance and competitions. He won many competitions for his community and became very popular as a dancer. He discovered his passion for music in 2018 after making a freestyle video which went viral on the internet. According to Donald Loiz, growing up with my parents has not been easy, but he has not said more about what he really meant, and also talked about what motivated him to go into the music industry. According to Donald Loiz, before I discovered I could sing, I was a horrible singer in my church; I was a chorister, I was just there to fill in the gap, nothing more. And also Donald Loiz writes all of his music according to his life and future career.
According to him, he said “my music are emotions, not because I want it to be, it is what it is – what you hear is what happened, that is the story.”
Donald Loiz was raised by his grandparents in Edo State, South-South Nigeria, but has not mentioned his father and mother yet. He has one brother and two stepbrothers and two stepsisters; Donald Loiz is the eldest.
