It is known for being the cultural and financial hub of Nashville, housing many of the city's iconic landmarks including the AT&T Building, Bridgestone Arena, the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Ryman Auditorium, and the Tennessee State Capitol. It has recently gone under redevelopment with the construction of many lofts and condominiums in and around the area.

Built-in the late 1950s, the L&C Tower was the tallest commercial building in the Southeast at the time.[7]
